A lot of times, I’d try to imagine how Jesus Christ would fit in the modern world. What would he look like? What would he wear? How’d he respond to current world events? How would people react to his appearance? The mind can be a super creative companion, so I let my imagination fly & I simulated his lifetime with our era. The post below imagines the life of Jesus in 2020.

Disclaimer : I’m a Christian. I’ve not backslidden. This post wasn’t created to be blasphemous. Just trying to provide humor & satire. There’s no part of the article written to disrespect our Lord Jesus Christ. I’m pretty sure you’ve laughed at a comedic performance in church or a reenactment of the nativity at Christmas. So, if you’ve got plans of writing ‘Blood of Jesus’ or ‘Holy Ghost fire’ in the comments, save it for your Nairaland account.

Firstly, I’d like to say I know Jesus wouldn’t be black. I don’t care what people say, all the Israelis I know are white, even if genetics was at play & Jesus Christ was black, a number of them would be darkskinned or mixed, at least. Gal Gadot is white. Yossi Benayoun is white. Natalie Portman is white. Please, please, bury that talk. SJWs can take a break.

Jesus Christ would be available for everybody. I mean, he’d speak with criminals, prostitutes, politicians, fraudsters & even members of the LGBTQ society. With every single opportunity he’d have, he’d remind them of how much the Father loves them & want them back, while not judging. He knows that the sinner is useful, that genuine repentance would separate him from eternal damnation.

He’d speak out against oppressive laws, especially against women, children & ethnic minorities. Would ask for respectability from humans. Let them know that Christians are expected to live the life, not just say it.

Will not be pleased with the way most churches are run. Definitely would waste no saying his mind to sanitize his Father’s house. Might want to use whips & can but wouldn’t find it easy , because these general overseers invest in a lot of personal security & all that.

Pretty sure he’d be a fan of Arsenal FC, would catch up on them on ESPN whenever he’s not evangelizing. Their fans exhibit long-suffering & patience, virtues our Lord would definitely have in abundance.

For the missionary work, he’d own an Honda. I mean, the Bible said he & his disciples were in one accord, so that’s that. Almost always in Nike tracksuits & Sketchers sneaks. The company makes excellent, comfortable, attractive footwear & the Master would definitely find it useful to the propagation of the gospel. Pretty sure he’d not own an iPhone. Would prefer some other product with a long battery life that’s water resistant. You know he’s always teaching on boats & ships.

Would neither be a Democrat or Republican, they’ve allowed extremists lead them, making themselves oblivious to common sense or reason. Would be an activist but wouldn’t support any party, because underneath the visible structure lies a cesspool of vileness, cynicism, greed & hate.

What we aren’t going to do is assume that he will be received with open arms & smiling faces. People would call him jobless, a divider, a nobody. Not many folks would want to listen to him because his wisdom wouldn’t be worldly. And folks would definitely find him weird because of references he’d make to God being his father & heaven. Might not have a Facebook account, the folks there are too lame & they’d always put up his picture & the devil’s for comparison. You know the ‘comment for Jesus, scroll down for the devil’ ish. Meh.

Would have a Twitter. And a YouTube channel for evangelism. Don’t know what his stand on climate change would be, because on one hand it’s pretty obvious & disastrous, yet he speaks to the wind & seas.

Generally, he’d be a cool dude, immune to the rampant foolishness & vulgarity, finding time to balance carpentry with the Father’s work. What’d matter most to him would be the kingdom. Reaching millions through love and its demonstrations. Empathy, compassion, understanding, patience, kindness, forgiveness.

Jesus Christ in 2020. My imagination.
